AfrikaBurn is a community and RISE is building solidarity through sharing, because that’s what creativity, art and culture are all about – connection.
element 1: Immerse
A practical programme based at Quaggafontein in the Tankwa Karoo desert, that integrates two focal areas: practical skills set to build resilience, and creative dialogues on womxn in society. Co-created by participant facilitators.
element 2: CONNECT
An online participant network builds solidarity and ongoing support and connection.
“WOMEN NO LONGER FACE THE TRIPLE CHALLENGES OF INEQUALITY, UNEMPLOYMENT AND POVERTY. THEY FACE QUADRUPLE CHALLENGES, THE FOURTH CHALLENGE BEING GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE”.
“In 2030, South Africans will be more conscious of the things they have in common than their differences. Their lived experiences will progressively undermine and cut across the divisions of race, gender, space and class. The nation will be more accepting of peoples’ multiple identities.”
Our Future Make It Work
TOGETHER, WE CAN FORM LARGER AND CLOSER NETWORKS TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER. SO WE ARE BETTER EQUIPPED AND BETTER ABLE TO NAVIGATE OUR WAY TO A AN EQUITABLE FUTURE
How does this thing roll?
The project will be developed from ground up, involving inputs from womxn and gender non-conforming/ non-binary people who are active in the AfrikaBurn network, their professional sectors and own communities, who are renowned for their creative, professional, facilitative, healing, community, activist, organising, leadership work.
If that sounds like you – please register here to participate – there are full and part sponsorships for facilitators and participants thanks to funding from the Solidarity Fund.
A series of online meetings will give shape for programme that gives RISE to content on
and identifies the appropriate creative processes
